The Freedom to Play
August 8, 2010
The theme for August is “Free to Be” and the topic for this week, “The Freedom to Play” is a huge part of it. For so many of us, “play” is the last thing on our “To Do List”, if it even makes it on the list at all. We often consider play something extra, a reward we give ourselves after all the work has been done. However, what if play was considered to be the foundation of all that we do? Can you imagine if play was as much a part of your day as brushing your teeth?
So many great inventions were created through the simple act of play; playing with ideas, possibilities, objects and plans. Who said life had to be so serious? Play is refreshing, exuberating, relaxing, and just plain fun. Play isn’t just for kids; it’s for the kid in all of us.
You have Eternity and Infinity as your playground. You have the freedom to create your life. Why not create a life that you enjoy?
This Sunday we explore the Freedom to Play in such a way that our lives may become richer, more productive and more joyous. Can you imagine doing something that has no goal, no need for improvement, no results and no purpose other than the sheer fun and joy of it?
Join me with wonderful guest musician, Stephen Anderson. This Sunday service is sure to inspire the kid in you and as a result, make you a much more joyous and productive adult. I look forward to our fun time together!
Playfully Yours,
Rev. Josephine
